Donald Litman is a parent of 2 children on the autism spectrum.  He has been helping families with children with learning differences for over twenty-five years. He founded Litman Law to serve the needs of professionals, families and small businesses. Donald has been a lawyer since 1981, and practices law in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

After finishing college at age 19, Donald went on to graduate from law school. Donald also holds an advanced law degree in Forensic Sciences from Antioch Law School, now the University of the District of Columbia, and had his dissertation published on Food and Drug Law in a national law journal.

Donald has been admitted to practice before several state and federal courts, including the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Court of Military Appeals, U.S. Claims Court, U.S. Court of International Trade, the Temporary Emergency Court of Appeals for the U.S, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Montgomery Bar Association, Virginia Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar Association.


Donald has moderated and lectured at many legal education courses on legal ethics, arbitration, mediation, and special education law. He has authored articles on these subjects and has provided the media interviews as a legal specialist in forensic medicine. Currently he is on the faculty of a local university providing instruction in criminal law and criminal justice.


Who's Who in American Law has listed his professional achievements. Donald was named in the area of School and Education Law by Philadelphia Magazine. Donald has been certified as a FINRA arbitrator. The Pennsylvania Attorney General appointed him as a Deputy Attorney General, and he served in their Tort Litigation Section for his experience as a litigator.


Guided by his vision, the law firm's clients include parents of children along the  autism spectrum, including aspergers, as well as several other learning differences such as ADHD, PDD, and ODD. His commercial litigation clients include other law firms throughout the U.S. and small businesses around the world. As Pennsylvania is the birthplace of special education law stemming from the cases arising out of Pennhurst, If those Pennhurst children were alive today, we would hope that they would choose our law firm. His experience in special education started when he was a boy growing up in Philadelphia, as he read to mentally challenged children in the Wynnefield Institute for Exceptional Children. Now as a parent of children with special needs, he combines his experiences to help other parents and their children through the legal obstacles that they encounter.
